TV News Story with HSS Anesthesiologist Receives National Award
A news segment produced live from the OR at HSS won the 2009 American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Philip S. Weintraub Media Award for Television. The award was presented Oct. 18 at the ASA annual meeting. Because of HSS’ leadership in Anesthesiology, the Public Relations Department at Hospital for Special Surgery arranged for Thomas Quinn MD MBA to be interviewed live from the OR on NBC’s Today Show, Aug. 3, to discuss and demonstrate the administration of the anesthetic, Propofol, and explain the level of skilled oversight required for its appropriate use. This news segment was hosted by medical correspondent Nancy Snyderman, M.D., and produced by Kerri Zimmer, who both received the ASA award.
