Barbara Wukovits RN BSN is selected as 2008 HSS “Wholeness of Life” Recipient
The Department of Anesthesiology proudly congratulates Barbara Wukovits RN, BSN, recipient of the 2008 “Wholeness of Life” award. Each year, the Hospital honors a member of the staff directly involved in patient care who exhibits an exceptional concern for their patients and their fellow staff. Barbara has been with HSS since 1987, when she was recruited by Dr. Nigel Sharrock, then Anesthesiology Department Director, to create a dedicated Anesthesia Research Division. In 1990, Barbara also took on the duties of coordinating the activities of the newly-created Acute Pain Service. She was appointed Assistant Director of the Acute Pain Service in 2000, and, in 2008, Barbara was appointed Director of Pain Services, administratively overseeing all pain management divisions within the hospital. As the Hospital and the pain services have grown, Barbara has continued to be a comforting presence to patients and a source of support for all staff. Barbara truly exemplifies the high ideals that form the framework of this prestigious honor.
